Gridlock

Gridlock is an exploration of layered grids and vibrant colors, emerging from my fascination with the tension between structure, freedom, and joy amid chaos. The series echoes woven fabric, aerial city views, flickering digital screens, and deteriorating building facades. The abundance of layers creates paintings that invite the viewer to linger and feel the interplay of color against color, with infinite possibilities for exploration and discovery.

The work is created by a rigorous layering process. Using an assortment of putty knives, I drag and incise precise lines of pigment; I build a high-density grid. Each layer in the grid represents a moment of system-building, which is then partially obscured or transformed by the next. This creates depth that invites the viewer to linger and feel the interplay of color and texture.

The resulting paintings are not just images of structure, but physical records of construction and chaos, vibrating with the energy of a system in constant motion.
